Movie goers have seen the drastic changes over the years, from popcorn and a soda – to full blown gourmet meal complete with cocktails and reclining seats. Australia seems to think that isn’t good enough, what we really need is a bed!
Australians can now enjoy the big-screen movie experience under the stars, while laying in a double bed. In an experience known as “Mov’In Bed” (short for “movie in bed”) is a festival moving through Sydney before hitting the road and taking this unique experience across Australia.
“It’s all about the experience,” Creator Vincent Hernandez said. “We created the idea of the beds because it’s fun, romantic and unusual — and because when you watch a movie in a park you break your neck using your backpack as a pillow and start to get cold sitting on the grass.”
According to the Huffington Post, general admission allows you an inflatable bed (a single ticket for a single bed, or two tickets for a double) along with clean sheets and a blanket. Know before you get up-in-arms about your missing acohol, movie goers can also order wine, beer or Champagne from their bed. If it’s food you desire, you can hop over just a few feet to the spread of a global cuisine from local vendors.
I know what you’re thinking, ‘Stop the madness! What if it rains?!’ Well, they have that covered, literally. The beds are completely waterproof and will allow viewers to enjoy the movie even during a light rain, which Hernandez calls “pure romance”.
It’s unclear how they handle those that may use this as a “Netflix and Chill” alternative.
