Back to the Future is one of the greatest movies of all time. It’s hard to imagine the film any other way than what we saw in theaters. However, MCA had different ideas for the movie.
According to a internal memo from Sid Sheinberg, he wanted to change the title to Space Man from Pluto. In the memo, Sheinberg is trying to butter up Spielberg by complimenting the new draft of the script. And as in every compliment by your boss there is ALWAYS a but. Sheinberg wanted to change the title because it implied a genre, which he felt the script deserved better.
In the movie, they did make the Space Man from Pluto changes that were asked. Originally, that was supposed to be a Stars Wars reference!!!
